Memphis, TN – The Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) announces the final public review meeting for the Midtown Area Connector Alternatives Analysis Study (The MAC), Monday, March 28, 2016, 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm at the Memphis Leadership Foundation, 1548 Poplar Ave.
This meeting will present the short list of seven (7) recommended Midtown corridor alternatives including: detailed routes, recommended mode of travel (bus rapid transit – BRT or streetcar), draft costs estimates, projected ridership and other information. This information will be included in the Locally Preferred Alternatives which will be presented at the conclusion of the study later this year.
“The public has been an important part of this process since the very beginning,” explained Ron Garrison MATA’s CEO. “We want to invite as many people as are able to attend to see and hear the recommendations.”
For the past 18 months, MATA has conducted this study complete with a series of public meetings for people who live, work, play, study and travel to and from: Downtown, Midtown, Overton Square, Cooper Young, North and South Memphis, The University of Memphis and other area communities.
Understanding that Midtown is Memphis’ center of activity and movement for our public transportation system, the theme for this study is Connecting Memphis from the Inside out.
